Goa, the very name is synonymous with fun and frolic. You will be able to see long stretches of beautiful sunny beaches and majestic churches, some of which are hundreds of years old. Owing to its proximity to the Western Ghats, Goa has been described as ‘The Golden Goa’ or ‘Rome of the East’ by Portuguese conquerors. In fact a traveller even remarked that a person who has visited Goa need not visit Lisbon, and Lisbon was one of the biggest Portuguese cities of the time. Not only is Goa a tourist destination for foreigners, but it is also frequented by domestic Indian tourists as well. Baga beach is located in North Goa is bordered by the Calangute beach to the north and the Anjuna beach to the south. Baga beach has several activities to offer the tourist. Water sports are a great attraction in Baga Beach. One can go for para sailing, wake boarding, windsurfing, kite surfing or take a ride on a jet ski. Dolphin spotting trips are also on offer and so are island trips. However, many people are simply content lazing on the sun lounges in front of the beach shacks all day and feasting on a steady supply of food, beer, and cocktails. Mackie's Saturday Night Bazaar is located by the river in Baga. The Wednesday flea market at Anjuna Beach and Saturday night market at Arpora are both close by as well, and will satisfy even the best shopaholics. Baga is also known for the nightlife. There are discotheques that are held by top DJs. There are also places that offer live entertainment in the form of rock and roll music.
